Pune, January 24 – The much-awaited Empress Garden Flower Show 2025 has officially opened for visitors, marking the beginning of a three-day floral extravaganza. Inaugurating the event, Dr. Suhas Divase, Commissioner and Director of Land Records, emphasized the need for youth to preserve this cherished tradition of Pune.

“This is not just an event; it is a festival for Pune. The overwhelming response even before the inauguration shows the deep connection Puneites have with this legacy. Senior patrons like Prataprao Pawar and Suman Kirloskar have played a crucial role in maintaining this tradition, and now, young enthusiasts are taking it forward successfully,” said Dr. Divse.
The event, organized by the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India, saw the presence of notable personalities including President Pratap Pawar, Honorary Secretary Suresh Pingle, Trustees Anupama Barve, Suman Kirloskar, Dr. Shrinath Kawade, Balasaheb Shivarkar, and Prashant Chavan.

A Floral Spectacle with Unique Attractions

The Empress Garden Flower Show has been a staple in Pune’s cultural calendar since 1830. The exhibition features a wide array of flower species, innovative gardening techniques, and artistic floral arrangements, making it a must-visit for plant lovers.

Visitors can witness exquisite bonsai displays, Japanese-style floral designs, and a variety of rose species, among other attractions. Additionally, competitions for gardening enthusiasts—including vegetable gardening, ornamental plant displays, and floral artistry—add to the excitement.

Engaging Activities and Community Participation

Beyond showcasing flowers, the event fosters environmental awareness and community involvement. Every year, it hosts art and handwriting competitions for school children, drawing participation from over 1,000 students. This year’s prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for January 27 at 5 PM.

Moreover, the flower show attracts nursery businesses and gardening experts from across Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and other regions, making it a hub for horticultural exchange.
