Over 40 Handloom Weavers from 14 States Participating
More than 40 stalls featuring handloom weavers from 14 states, including Maharashtra, have been set up at the exhibition. The event is being held at Hotel Central Park, opposite Sambhaji Park, JM Road, Pune, and will remain open to the public for free until March 25, 2025, from 11 AM to 9 PM.
Showcasing India’s Rich Handloom Heritage
Speaking on the occasion, Shefali Vaidya remarked, “The Government of India’s Ministry of Textiles, along with the Small and Medium Enterprises and Khadi Gramodyog sectors, has introduced several schemes to support weavers and handloom businesses. The ‘Local for Global’ initiative is helping small-scale entrepreneurs gain national and international recognition. This exhibition brings the rich tradition of India’s handloom heritage to Pune, displaying exquisite cotton, silk, and linen textiles. The craftsmanship, intricate designs, and high-quality fabric available here are truly remarkable.”
Y. Srinivas Rao added, “This exhibition aims to showcase the artistic brilliance of weavers from across India. It highlights elegant and intricately designed textiles, especially those that enhance the beauty and grace of women’s fashion. Many customers are unaware of the authenticity of pure silk and handwoven fabrics, so this platform provides them access to genuine, handmade sarees, dress materials, and more.”
